Tactiquest playtest 1.5


1.5 has been released. It contains:

  • The final three classes: Witch, Soulcaller and Oracle.
  • A large amount of new GM guidance, with the bestiary now more of an all-purpose GM book.
  • Rules for pack animals, stealth, using harmful potions as weapon oils, and other refinements to various subsystems.
  • 39 new foes in the bestiary.
  • Dozens of new build options & balance improvements.

by this point there aren't really any new systems or chapters left to add to the core books; improvements from this point on will be more subtle. future updates will focus on:

  • rounding out the bestiary, which does still need a few dozen more statblocks.
  • thoroughly testing every class and subsystem at all levels of play. this will probably take years and TQ will remain in a playtest state until it's done.
  • finishing two adventures: a free, 3-5 session game to introduce the system, and eventually a much meatier adventure that will cost money.
  • filling out both core books with more art.

while there's still a lot to finish, TQ's progressed far enough it's completely playable. if you do decide to run it, i can't stress enough how invaluable all playtesting is - if you've run or played this game, please email my username @gmail.com with any feedback you have. if you wish to support the game further, talking about it in other RPG spaces helps more than anything else.
